A humectant used to retain moisture in foods and prevent them from drying out. A by-product of soap and fat processing.
Vegan / Vegetarian?
If labeled "Vegetable Glycerin" or "Vegan", it is 100% plant-based and Halal.
Fatwa Rulings
Halal if derived from plant oils or synthetic sources. However, because it can be derived from pork or non-Zabiha animal fats, it is classified as doubtful (Mushbooh) without certification.
